Missive is 20,736 LEDs in three 26” x 79” panels. Originally they were created to be installed bolted together in a 79"x79" square, but have recently been exhibited as 3 separate panels, to interesting effect.

The LEDs are spaced at 0.55”, allowing them to depict detailed images more clearly than most LED pieces. Therefore Missive is often used as an interactive display, combining the faces of visitors with various animated backgrounds and foregrounds.

The computer program that controls the piece is LED Lab an iPad app that allows any image or video file to be used in creating animations. (City/country-specific imagery can be integrated into the performance.) This app is available on the Apple iTunes Store.
