Parastella’s disc has 48 aluminum spokes, each 10’ long with approximately 300 LEDs. A computer system changes the color of al 14,000 LEDs so that images appear.  The human eye is so good at connecting pixels, even when they are far apart, that the images are easy to see, especially when they are moving.

The animated display includes images from space, videos of the natural world, motifs from cultures worldwide, and abstract, computer-generated patterns and swirls of color.

Four speakers on the ground play classical music. For each piece a sequence of animations is choreographed. The music cements the desired mood, sometimes calming, sometimes thrilling, sometimes simply inspiring wonder.
